Using Komodo Edit

Admittedly, Komodo Edit is not the best available HTML editor on the market, but if you're not afraid to build pages in HTML, or if you use XML, you simply can't beat the price (it's free). Bear in mind that Komodo Edit is the loss leader for ActiveState.

They would prefer you purchase their full IDE, and to that end, Komodo IDE and their website can be a bit confusing to find the free Komodo Edit version. If you do web development programming or web application development, then you should consider purchasing the IDE since it has a number of features that make it an excellent choice for those development environments and needs.

While the multiple programming language flexibility of Komodo Edit makes it a very compelling option for many developers, it is not well suited to designers, small businesses, or beginners, especially if they are looking for a WYSIWYG environment where they can create a website more easily and in a more visual nature. Komodo Edit does include integrated support for FTP, FTPs, SFTP, and SCP, eliminating the need to turn to a separate application solely to handle file uploads.
